Tree Removal & Stump Grinding

Will you tell me if a tree really needs to be removed?
Absolutely. Our certified arborists will explain what’s happening and help you decide what’s necessary, and what isn’t.
Do you offer emergency tree removal?
Yes! If a tree is posing immediate danger, we prioritize fast assessments for existing clients.
Is stump grinding worth it?
In most cases, yes, especially if you plan to replant, mow, or prevent regrowth. We’ll walk you through pros and cons.
What if my yard is hard to access?
We’ve seen it all, and we’ll take care of it safely. You’ll know the plan upfront, no surprises.

Tree Pruning

How do I know if my tree needs to be pruned?
If you notice dead branches, limbs hanging over your home or driveway, or a canopy that's looking too dense or uneven, it's likely time for a professional assessment. Our certified arborists can help you understand exactly what your tree needs, no guesswork required.
When is the best time of year to prune trees in Central PA?
Timing often depends on the tree species and age, goals of the pruning, and whether or not the tree is hazard. Our arborist reps are happy to advise on the best timing for your particular tree.
Will pruning hurt my tree?
Not when it’s done properly. Improper cuts or over-pruning can weaken a tree, but our ISA Certified Arborists® follow industry standards to promote long-term health, safety, and structure. We prune with purpose, not just for looks.
Do I need to be home during the service?
Nope! As long as we have access to the property and clear instructions, our team can handle everything while you're at work or out. We’ll text or email before the visit, and we always clean up before we leave.
How much does professional tree pruning cost?
It depends on the size, species, and condition of your tree. After a quick visit, we’ll provide a clear, no-pressure quote. No hidden fees, just honest pricing for the work that’s truly needed.

Tree Cabling & Bracing

Will this “save” my tree long-term?
In many cases, yes. It doesn’t guarantee the tree lasts forever, but it can greatly reduce the risk of failure and extend its life.
Are Tree Cabling and Bracing bad for my tree?
Not when it’s done by a certified arborist. We install systems that work with the tree’s growth, not against it.
How do I know if I need cabling vs removal?
That’s why we start with an evaluation, to help you weigh safety, cost, and what matters most to you.
Can you cable trees near my house or power lines?

Yes. We work safely around homes and utilities, and will advise if a tree is too risky to keep.

Lawn Care

When will I start seeing results?
Most lawns show visible improvement within the first couple visits, especially with fertilization and weed control.
Do I have to sign up for a long term commitment?
No. We offer seasonal plans with no long-term commitment, but most clients stick with us for years.
Can you fix a lawn that’s “past saving”?
In most cases, yes. We’ll assess the damage and recommend a plan, even if it means starting fresh with overseeding.
How often will my lawn be treated?
Most programs include 5–7 visits across the season, based on your lawn’s needs.
Is this safe for kids and pets?
Yes. We use registered products and provide clear re-entry guidance after each treatment.

Aeration & Overseeding

When is the best time to aerate and overseed my lawn?
In South Central PA, early fall is ideal, cooler temps, less weed pressure, and better moisture support seed germination.
Will aeration and overseeding fix my bare or thin lawn spots?
Absolutely, if done at the right time with proper prep and follow-up. Aeration creates space for seed-to-soil contact, and overseeding fills in patchy areas with fresh, resilient grass varieties.
Do I need to do anything before or after the service?
Before: Keep your lawn mowed and watered. After: We’ll send clear instructions, but typically light watering and avoiding mowing for 10–14 days helps new seedlings establish.
How long does it take to see results?
You’ll see early germination in 7–14 days (weather depending), with noticeable thickening over the next few weeks. Full results develop over the season as the grass matures.
Is this included in your regular lawn care program?
Aeration and overseeding are recommended as an annual enhancement service and can be added to any plan. They pair especially well with fertilization to maximize root growth and turf density.

Lawn Fertilization & Weed Control

How often should I fertilize my lawn in Central PA?
A well-timed program typically includes 4–6 applications throughout the growing season. At Good’s, we customize the timing and formula based on your lawn’s needs and the local weather patterns.
Will this help with crabgrass and broadleaf weeds too?
Yes! Our program includes pre-emergent weed control in early spring to stop crabgrass before it starts, plus targeted treatments for dandelions, clover, and other broadleaf weeds during the season.
Is your fertilization safe for kids and pets?
Absolutely. We use professional-grade products applied by licensed technicians, with clear guidance on when it’s safe to re-enter the lawn (usually within 24 hours). We’ll notify you before and after every visit.
How soon will I see results?
Within a few weeks, you’ll typically see greener grass and fewer weeds. Long-term improvements (like root strength and density) continue over time with consistent care.
Can you fix my lawn if it’s already struggling?
Yes, and we’ll tell you exactly what’s needed. Whether it’s poor soil, heavy thatch, or insect damage, our team will diagnose the problem and recommend a clear, honest plan to revive your lawn.

Lawn Insect & Grub Control

How do I know if grubs are damaging my lawn?
Grub damage often starts with brown patches or spongy turf that lifts easily like a carpet. You might also notice animals digging for them. If you're unsure, we can inspect your lawn and confirm what's going on, no guesswork needed.
What types of lawn insects do you treat for?
We target a variety of turf-damaging pests common in Central PA, including white grubs, chinch bugs, billbugs, and sod webworms. Our treatments are customized based on what we find during inspection.
When should I treat for grubs?
Timing matters. Preventive treatments are most effective in late spring to early summer, before grubs mature. Curative options are available if damage is already present, but early action is always best.
Are your treatments safe for families and pets?
Yes. All of our products are applied by licensed technicians who follow safety guidelines. We’ll always notify you before and after your visit, with clear instructions for when it’s safe to return to the yard.
Can I prevent grub problems in the future?
Definitely. The best defense is a strong, healthy lawn supported by consistent care and timely grub control. Our team can build a plan that protects your lawn season after season.

Plant Health Care

Is this service just for trees?
No, we care for all types of ornamental shrubs, hedges, perennials, and small trees.
How often do you treat plants?
It depends on the plant type and issue. Some problems need one-time care; others benefit from seasonal programs.
Are treatments safe for pollinators?
Applying insecticides to the landscape can pose a risk to pollinators. We work hard to avoid this with well-timed applications such as treating plants after they have flowered and using products that carry reduced risk and have short residual impacts.
Can I combine this with lawn or tree services?
Absolutely, we’re one of the only companies that handles all three (lawn, tree, and pest) with one expert team.

Holiday Lighting

Do I have to buy the lights from you?
You are buying the service. The display material including the lights come with the service. We put them up before the holiday season, and take them down afterwards, so you can enjoy the season without all the hassle.
When do you install and take them down?
Installations typically begin in early November. Takedowns begin after the New Year and are scheduled by area.
What happens if a light goes out mid-season?
Just call or text us, we’ll send a technician to fix it quickly at no additional charge.
Do you offer lighting for trees or just houses?
Both! We specialize in rooflines, windows, trees, shrubs, pathways, and more.

Commercial Tree and Lawn Care Management

What types of properties do you service?
HOAs, office parks, retail sites, industrial properties, apartment complexes, and institutional campuses.
Can you combine lawn, tree, and pest services into one contract?
Yes! We’re one of the few companies in the region equipped to handle all three in-house.
How do you handle service issues or complaints?
Quickly. Your dedicated contact will respond to concerns within 24 hours. We will address service issues and complaints as soon as possible.
